The National Weather Service always sends invitations to superintendents when there is a potential for serious weather concerns. I always know the situation is more than just a guess when they send out those conference call invites. We had a briefing this afternoon that expressed a significant concern for sustained winds and thunderstorms starting at noon tomorrow. The gentleman leading the call said he has been studying the weather over 20 years and has not seen this serious of a wind concern many times. They are concerned about downed power lines and dangerous conditions for high profile vehicles like trucks and buses. They particularly urged caution on north/south highways like 277 with sustained cross winds of 55-75 MPH. We will keep an eye on the situation and if we feel that our afternoon bus routes may be unsafe, we will communicate early with parents and make a plan to get kids home safely. The high school track team will not be traveling to Early. We will keep you posted on softball and baseball schedules. Regional Powerlifters will be leaving earlier in the morning to get to the panhandle before the system hits. Please stay tuned to remind, the app/website and Facebook.
It's hard to think about summer approaching so quickly, but it will be here before we know it and many people like to plan summer trips early. The schedule for Summer 2023 is below. Campuses will reach out to parents who have children that need to attend as we get closer to the end of the year.

Parents...just a reminder...Monday, February 20th will be a regular school day to make up the time we have missed for bad weather.
To make up the time missed this week, HISD will have full instructional days on 3/10, 5/17 and 5/18. These dates will no longer be early release days. We will also be having school on February 20th, which was originally a school holiday. Beginning next week, we will have a 3:50 dismissal time. At the secondary campuses, the additional 10 minutes will be scheduled onto the tutorial period to make the best use of the additional time. The results of the survey are below. Thank you all for your input.
If you are purchasing tickets to the state football game, they must be purchased online through SeatGeek. Downloading the app is recommended. ATT Stadium is cashless, so be prepared for that. You also must have a clear stadium bag.
You can get a $5 discount using our school code. Please share this code with family and friends. The Code will become live Sunday, December 11th, at 10:00 AM.

We just received the following information from Lowry Field
The Bearcat Football Team will play Panhandle at 3:00pm on Friday, November 18th at Lowry Field in Lubbock. School will dismiss at 11:00am. More details to come.
Early release decisions include many factors: safe travel, student attendance, number of staff needing to leave, buses, etc. This Friday we will dismiss school at 11:00am. I anticipate many families will want to leave earlier than 11:00 to go to Lubbock. To make the best use of our instructional time, Hawley ISD will have a FLEX day on Friday. This means that student attendance will not be mandatory, and missing will not count against a student's absences. Instead, we will use that time for students who are behind in classes, missing assignments, failing, or needing to make up hours on their intervention time. If any of these apply to your child, or your child's teacher reaches out, your child needs to be here Friday morning to get caught up before the semester comes to a close in a few short weeks. If that is not the case, your child is still welcome to attend, and will have activities related to their grade level content. We will still attend the pep rally at 7:55, serve breakfast, and have a sack lunch. We will also still run buses. If you choose, you can keep your child at home and there will not be any assignments to make up or absence counted. Teachers will not be assigning new material. Any assignments that have already been assigned are still due by the end of the week. If you have specific questions, reach out to your child's campus or teacher. We will send out a survey later in the week to get a rough count of kids to plan for meals.
We have season passes for basketball. They are $25 for an individual or $50 for a family (two adults and all children in the home). They will be good for admission to all 2022-23 HOME middle school AND high school basketball games. You can purchase them at the administration office during school hours or at the basketball gate on game day.
