David White - English

I was born in the big, old town of Sweeny, Texas, about an hour southwest of Houston. I grew up there and graduated from Sweeny High School in 2009. Afterwards, I attended college at Abilene Christian University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English in 2013. I have been teaching for five years, and I started teaching in Hawley in 2019.  I live in Abilene with my wife, Kari, our dog, Maggie, and our sugar glider, Meg. Kari and I were blessed with the birth of our first son in April 2019 and he has been a true joy in our lives.

I teach 7th Grade Reading and Writing. I employ technology in the classroom and I make my class dynamic, active, engaging, and fun. My class is a safe space for all students, regardless of color, gender, religion, or sexual identity. I impress the importance of respect and co-existence on all of my students. I have clear expectations for my students in regards to discipline and achievement, and I will uphold each child to those standards. I want to see each student that enters my room succeed!

I am a BIG fan of lots of nerdy things. My favorite super-hero is Spider-Man. My favorite sport to watch and play is basketball. Between teaching and taking care of my son, I play videogames and tabletop role-playing games. I even run a biweekly RPG podcast with my friends! Even though teaching is a fulfilling career, I have a dream of being a published author and I am currently writing a novel titled My Dad Is A Sky Pirate.

The best way to contact me is via the Remind app or my school e-mail dwhite@hawley.esc14.net.   1 1
